My love affair with the camera and the visual image began in a beginning photojournalism class while a student at Stephens College.
Within a year, I made the decision to make photojournalism my career, enrolled in graduate school at the University of Missouri, to earn a Master of Arts degree, concentrating in photojournalism. As a grad student, I acquired the skills to self-produce stories with photographs and words. See PUBLISHED tab.
Since Missouri, creating images that tell stories, has taken me to staff photographer at several Texas dailies; Southern Living (circ. 2.8 million) staff photographer, assigned to the Travel, Features, Homes sections; and Fortune 500 corporate clients. My assignments – assigned and self-produced – have documented daily life – news, business, lifestyle, sports, food, medicine, performing arts, celebrity, and much more. See PEOPLE, PLACES, BLACK & WHITE, HOOFBEATS tabs.
My purpose with every assignment is to “see” beneath the familiar, and capture the unexpected.
I look forward to more exploring, “seeing,” and telling stories with my camera.
